The picture is stunning. Not just stunning the visual sense, but it makes you feel something. That's important.
Everything always does look better in the rearview.
I've caught myself many times passing something up and thinking "that would of been a great shot". Most recently, I saw an overweight child on a small crotch rocket, getting ready to drive it into the street, but he was waiting for traffic. That would of been a great photo, but it never happened.
Aside from photography, people usually think of the "good 'ol days" and how great things used to be.
The shot people need to see is straight ahead.
